The party headed to the tower at the center of New Typor to meet with Baron Aitor. At the party, they met a new companion: an iswari merchant named Armen. Armen had been summoned as well, and after a brief wait they were called inside. On the way in they passed numerous alcoves that were decorated with the Bowok interpretations of the gods: while most of them corresponded to the same gods the Urek worship, a few were unfamiliar.
Inside, Aitor and his brother Docian felt out the group before getting to the point: a group of radicals called the Salters had burned the Saffan ship two days earlier, and Itzal/Etienne was believed to be one of their leaders. He'd begun as a low-level drug dealer largely off their radar, but he'd reached the point now where he needed to be dealt with. The Salters believed that the Durba people should not trade with the old Urek Empire (including Saffa and Moru Kel), and should expand their lands along the Durba River including into territory the Nawabe lived on. After some negotiation, the party settled on 1,200 gold crowns for the return of Itzal's head to Aitor — attached or alone made no difference to him. A boat was arranged to meet them the following morning at the docks.
The party then went to fight in the fighting pits, facing a couple of run-of-the-mill large alligators and one enormous swamp gator. Armen somehow summoned a vicious harpoon and found himself a much more effective fighter than he'd believed possible. Following the fight, the party delivered the carcass to Leona at the Butchers’ in exchange for the orichalcum rapier. She let on that the fellow who'd sold her the rapier had mentioned a scabbard, and that he might be found at either at the Lion Inn or a local restaurant called Garni’s.
The group tracked down Kova Ori at Garni’s and determined that he’d purchased the blade from a fellow known as Lefty: a one-handed gent with a crocodile claw on the stump of his arm. They decided to have him join the group as a guide, and set off to bed to await a boat trip the next morning.
