Week 24: Papers, Please!

The party talked with Carolon and Delayna, and found that Pellis had suffered similar depression to Caralon (albeit less serious) in recent years; he was using dusk moss to keep it under control, but had recently exhausted his supply as it was doing double-duty subduing the beetles. Caralon had a brief seizure and vision, seeing herself reattached to a tree from which Delayna, Aiden, the Marghoz, and others branched, but feeling the absence of her father and grandfather.

They returned home to Effi and Arko's, where Ignacius received a letter from his dead wife Grummal. In the morning, Saleen talked to them: she had been approached by Inquisitor Luda to try to help recover the Suma Oro from the Black Box, and believed that she may have been set up: they'd sent a recently freed convict named Birdseed along with the group since he was a good lock-picker, and a member of the Bronze named Pella had been following him and picked up most of the group upon exiting the warehouse. They'd made it to their destination but had failed to gain ent ry to the room they were approaching: Saleen didn't have time to find out the details, but did hear one of them saying “between the dragon and the mice, who thought the mice would be the problem?”

Aiden told the story of the Crow’s Nest heist, and showed the party the diagram of the lock with a warning to watch out for the mice.

The party travelled out to the lizard area, defeating a bunch of stinklizards with the help of a friendly kernu named Bacon before butchering a herd of night sentinels and gathering a vial of their blood.

Bozrahn used the blood to make a copy of the Tegur Han map, which he gave to them.

They then decided to check in on Darvis, as they'd promised Alma: Aiden send him a message to meet them at Glow. He looked in okay form, and explained that his mother didn't understand: he was working with a group that helped the oppressed, including the Adrift. He was cagey about the details, but said that if they helped find out what was going on with a kid named Kel then he might know someone who would be able to help them find Pyko. Kel was living with a couple of smuggler/thieves down in the docks area.

The party proceeded down to the docks, where they staked out the house. After knocking and being told to go away, they discerned that the people inside were attempting to burn some documents. Their nokka, Cheese, rammed down the door and they managed to grab a few remaining unburned documents before capturing the 2 hoodlums.

Kel was found in a back room, and revealed that he was being paid a pretty princely sum (5 silver sovereigns a day) to unload and load cargo for the group. They gave him 25 crowns to never work for the group again.

Returning to interogate the captives, Aiden accidentally exploded one of their heads. The other looked on in fear, wondering what was next, while Ignacius began to examine the papers they'd rescued . . . .
