Places and Cultures

The western lands are divided into two continents, Odo Kas to the north and Odo Kwon to the south.

On Odo Kas, the city of Moru Kel lies just west of where the Maelstrom spun. The city is part of a loose affiliation of former Urek cities stretching from Saffa to the north down to Esmi at the southern end of the continent. The elven city of Tarima, located just west of Moru Kel, is a close trading partner who is generally allied with these cities. To the north and west lie the nomadic Nawabe, a peaceful but powerful group of clans who stretch up to the base of the Burkhdyn Gazar mountains.

Towering peaks that are said to scrape the heavens, the Burkhdyn Gazar are the home of the Iswari: mountain-top dwellers of short stature, reminiscent of the halflings of the island of Tarsha. Various humans, orcs, dwarves, and goliaths also make their homes lower in the mountains.

North of Saffa and the Nawabe, the Wurdonne region lies. The Wurdonne, like the Nawabe, are a remnant of the old Gamaal Empire. Unlike the Nawabe, they have settled heavily into a civilized lifestyle, though they have not controlled the warlike impulses of their forbears. To their north lies the desolate stretches of the Oppa people, punctuated by the great city of Kelcarn.

West of the coast, the Iza Mula mountains in the north give way to vast open steppes before meeting the Akkur Mons range to the far west. Between these two ranges, the Maal, various orcs, and the Dalgar vie for control. Both ranges are also home to orcish folk, with those of the Iza Mula being generally more agreeable than their western counterparts.

Those western orcs are kept in check by the Akkur dwarves, who inhabit most of the range. Farthest to the west, the Mehna civilization lies along a distant shore.

To the east of Moru Kel is the newly settled island of Tarsha, whos inhabitants came from the Spice Islands far to the northeast.

Sailing south from Moru Kel, Mezzi Island marks the gateway to Odo Kwon. Mezzi itself is a mix of cultures, with a number of renowned schools and academies among its assets.

At the nearest point of Odo Kwon sits the underground citadel-port of Ma-Abi. Ranging west from Ma-Abi, the great city of Doma lies at the mouth of the Rhyba Matta river; south of Doma is Addassus, the gateway to the elven city of Quayshi and — far to the west, across treacherous wildlands and jungles — the old elven homeland of Goeyan.

If you range west from Ma-Abi, you’ll head of the Strait of Shandar to the south of the Burkhdyn Gazar. The Breaklands along the southern edge of the Strait are infested with uncivilized goliath troops, and to their west the foul Rovers — savage wild elves — and worse make travel increasingly dangerous.
